Visualise was formed as an ACTION GROUP in the Autumn of 1987 by a group
of parents, carers and teachers of multi disabled visually impaired children
from all over Scotland who attended Canaan Lodge, the multiply handicapped
unit of the Royal Blind School, Edinburgh.

To assist multi disabled visually impaired children and adults to fulfil
their maximum physical, intellectual, emotional and social potential.

The provision of suitable residential post-schooling in the community
for multi disabled visually impaired young adults where they can enjoy
continuity of education with stimulation in a caring environment, and
where they can develop their considerable learning potential - equipping
them with the skills to achieve as much independence as possible.
A whole new range of additional services are presently being
developed to meet the very special needs of the multi disabled visually
impaired throughout Scotland.

Our first pioneering project for residential post-schooling in the community
was successfully opened in the Spring of 1992 and is still going strong
today.
The three main basic aims of Fountain Hall are:
- To offer learning experiences and stimulation
- To encourage independence
- To promote community integration
The underlying principle governing the above aims is to
guarantee the dignity and quality of life of each of the six residents
in a caring environment.

Our head office opened in the Spring of 1998 and is responsible for the
management and co-ordination of existing services, together with the planning
and development of new much needed services.
Please contact our Development Manager at Norton Park for
further information on how Visualise can be of assistance to you.
